Over the past few months, we've continued to expand Meeplay with one clear goal: to help you do more of everything that happens around the gaming table without leaving the app.
Finding people to play with, organising an RPG session, booking a space, starting a game, managing a game library or contacting an organisation are just some of the new possibilities we've introduced this summer.
And because we know that's a lot of new features, we've put them all together here.
Find people you really click with
Finding players nearby is important. Finding players whose gaming style matches yours is even better.
Player Radar
You can now build your own Player Radar by selecting some of the characteristics that define how you like to play.
You can then compare your radar with other Meeplay users and see how compatible you are before you even sit down at the same table.
Sharing the same hobby matters, but enjoying games in a similar way can make all the difference.
Improvements to Nearby Players
We've also improved Nearby Players to make it even easier to find people to play with.
You can now show that you're looking for people to play with and check your compatibility directly in Meeplay.
It makes it much easier to go from:
“I'd like to play something.”
to:
“I've found people nearby I'd actually like to play with.”
Meeplays designed specifically for RPGs
Role-playing games have different needs, and Meeplay can now handle them too.
When creating an RPG Meeplay, you can configure specific information for the session, including:
- Game Master.
- Looking for a Game Master.
- Session type.
- Safety tools.
- Table characteristics.
- Compatibility between participants.
- Additional information to help you find the right group.
The goal is to give everyone a much clearer idea of what kind of session they're joining and what to expect from the table before signing up.
Whether you're looking for players, searching for a Game Master or simply trying to find an RPG session that suits you, you can now do it directly in Meeplay.
Meeplay is now with you while you play
Until now, you could record your games in Meeplay.
Now you can also start them directly from the app.
Start a Game
Choose the game, add the players and let Meeplay randomly select the starting player.
Then start the built-in timer and keep track of how long the game lasts.
When the game ends, enter the scores and save the result.
The whole process is connected:
Game → players → starting player → timer → scores → recorded game.
Live Games
You can also start a game from scratch on the spot without preparing anything beforehand.
It's especially useful for those moments when everyone simply sits down to play and you want to track the game from the very beginning.
Meeplay from your phone's home screen
We've also introduced native widgets.
You can now access Meeplay information directly from your phone's home screen.
Among other things, you can:
- check your upcoming events;
- access Meeplay quickly;
- start a game without navigating through the entire app.
Small shortcuts that make Meeplay even more useful when it's time to play.
Book your place to play
This is one of the biggest new features we've introduced.
Stores, clubs, associations and other organisations can now manage their gaming spaces directly through Meeplay.
If you're a player
You can view available spaces and book a table in advance.
That means you can organise your next game knowing your playing space will be ready when you arrive.
If you manage an organisation
You can configure:
- spaces and rooms;
- available schedules;
- availability;
- bookings.
Everything is managed directly through Meeplay.
Fewer messages, less manual administration and a much easier way to control who is using each space and when.
More tools for stores, associations and organisations
We've also added several improvements for people who use Meeplay to manage communities and events.
Direct messages to organisations
People attending an event can now contact the organisation directly through Meeplay.
It's a simpler way to ask questions, request information or check the details of an activity.
Custom permissions
Not everyone on a team needs access to everything.
You can now configure specific permissions within your organisation and decide which features each team member is allowed to manage.
More control and greater security for organisations managed by several people.
Improved game library loans
We've expanded the information available for games in a lending library and made the whole process easier to manage.
You can also lend games to people who haven't installed Meeplay yet.
Because a community game library needs to work for everyone, whether or not they're already using Meeplay.
Notifications when activities begin
At busy events, it's easy to lose track of the schedule.
Meeplay can now automatically notify registered users when an activity starts.
That means you can enjoy the event without constantly checking the timetable.
More useful interactive event maps
We've also improved our interactive maps.
They can now display additional information about what's happening in each area of an event.
For example:
- which games each publisher is presenting;
- which games are featured;
- which games are taking part in votes;
- which titles are included in awards or special activities.
The map becomes more than a way to find your way around the venue: it's also a tool for discovering what's happening around you.
More interactive giveaways
Organisations can now add a question or participation requirement before someone enters a giveaway.
This opens the door to more engaging campaigns and different types of activities within events.
New ways to promote games
Publishers and game creators also have new opportunities within Meeplay.
Games can now be promoted directly inside the app, increasing their visibility in strategic areas of the platform.
It's a new way to bring launches, new releases and featured games to players who are already looking for something to play.
Meeplay's first official digital score sheet
We've also launched a feature we're particularly excited about.
Meeplay now includes the official digital score sheet for La Cuenta, published by 2Tomatoes.
Players can keep score directly in Meeplay without needing pencil and paper.
We'd especially like to thank 2Tomatoes for trusting Meeplay to digitise this part of their players' experience.
And we hope this is only the beginning.
Everything that happens around the table
Meeplay was created to connect people who love board games.
And little by little, we're building something much broader.
You can now use Meeplay to:
find people to play with → discover your compatibility → organise the game → find somewhere to play → book a table → play → record the result → take part in events → manage communities.
And we're only getting started.
If you haven't opened Meeplay for a while, you'll probably find quite a few things have changed.
Update the app, open Meeplay and discover everything we've prepared this summer.
