Runewars takes place in the same popular fantasy universe as the board games Runebound, Descent: Journeys in the Dark and Rune Age, and dozens of fan-favorite heroes and monsters play their part. The wars for the dragon runes are beginning, and only one faction will emerge victorious.

Runewars es un juego de tablero en el dirigirás a uno de los 4 ejércitos de fantasía disponibles (humano, elfo, caos, nomuerto) para expandirte por el mapa y descubrir las runas de dragón que se encuentren en él. El objetivo es ser el jugador que consiga más runas al cabo de 7 años de juego (unas 7 rondas de 4 turnos cada una, primavera, verano, otoño e invierno). Un juego de 4X: explotación de recursos, exploración, expansión, y exterminio. A pesar de eso es difícil que un jugador resulte eliminado del juego porque en el mapa se disponen tropas neutrales.
