You are the head of a respected but troubled family estate in mid-19th century Victorian England. After several lean decades, family fortunes are looking up! Your goal is to improve your estate so as to be in better standing with the truly influential families in Derbyshire.
Obsession is a game of 16 to 20 turns in which players build a deck of Victorian gentry (British social upper class), renovate their estate by acquiring building tiles from a centralized builders' market, and manipulate an extensive service staff of butlers, housekeepers, underbutlers, maids, valets, and footmen utilizing a novel worker placement mechanic. Successfully hosting prestigious social activities such as Fox Hunts, Music Recitals, Billiards, Political Debates, and Grand Balls increases a player's wealth, reputation, and connections among the elite.
Each turn, players choose a building tile representing a room or outdoor space in and around their 19th century British country house. The tile chosen dictates the event that can be hosted and the guests to be invited. Players must carefully plan, however, to have the proper staff available to service the event and support guests as needed. The reward for success is new investment opportunities, permitting further renovation of the estate (acquisition of more valuable/powerful building tiles), an increase in reputation in the county, an expanding circle of influential acquaintances, and a larger and highly-trained domestic staff.
Throughout the game, a competitive courtship for the hand of the most eligible young gentleman and lady in the county presents specific renovation and reputation objectives. The player who best meets these objectives while accumulating victory points will win the hand of the wealthy love interest and the game.

Muy buen juego, fabuloso tanto solitario como con otros jugadores. Mecánicas sencillas, y aun que el manual me pareció un poco rompecabezas, acabas adoptando el flujo del juego en minutos. En cuanto al diseño grafico, siendo diseñador, me parece ofensivo en comparación a los productos que hay hoy en día, no llega al estandar y por eso no le doy más valoración. Encuentro que le falta un poco de narrativa, en algun momento de la partida puedes perder el foco a la tematica y solo centrarte en los valores numéricos, lo que produce escapar de la inmersión. Obsession es un auténtico juegazo. Es un euro muy temático de gestión que nos sitúa en Derbyshire, Inglaterra, donde tomaremos el papel de una familia que ha caído en desgracia y deberemos recuperar la reputación perdida para volver a ser una de las familias más influyentes y respetadas de la región. En la partida deberemos gestionar los aristócratas de nuestra mano y los miembros del servicio doméstico de nuestra familia para realizar actividades en diferentes partes de nuestra hacienda, que nos otorgarán varios beneficios como atraer aristócratas de prestigio a nuestra familia, mayor reputa
Un euro medio, muy accesible de inicio, pero que se va haciendo exigente según vas avanzando en él, con partidas muy dinámicas y estratégicas.
Juegazo de colocación de trabajadores donde la temática es un acierto. Lo amas o lo odias pero las mecánicas son sobresalientes.

That was probably the game that most felt like playing a prototype in a long time, good game idea, but technically nothing really new or better executed than in other games. for me a little too much dependent on knowledge (deck odds) ,luck, and quite precudural game play. a little fidely, for sure, you will have to look up some stuff during first games, you got 5 player aid cards, but there is no place exept the manual, where you can understand game stcoring. also it comes with downtimes, when playing 4 player game.
