What is Neuroshima Hex: Partisans
Neuroshima Hex: Partisans is an army created by fans for fans, joining factions such as the Dancer, Mephisto, and Uranopolis. Behind its design are Artur Pawłowski and Marcin Zapart, the authors of the Troglodytes expansion and longtime members of the Neuroshima Hex fandom. Story-wise, the Partisans form a network controlled by a mysterious doctor who uses all his knowledge to fight Moloch. His underground complex is guarded by people, a cannon, mines, and, above all, numerous traps.
It is these traps that constitute the most important element of this army's mechanics. The Partisans can place their trap markers on unoccupied spaces in several different ways, gradually limiting the opponent's space for safely deploying units. The type of trap set remains hidden until it is activated, so the opponent does not know what consequences occupying a given space will entail. The faction's units also stand out for their high durability and attack power, and the double Tactics token allows players to adapt their actions to the current situation on the board.
The Command Post equipped with a Trap Launcher plays a significant role. Once per turn, it allows you to place a face-down trap marker on any empty space in a straight line from the launcher. The ability to rotate the Command Post helps it cover more areas. Guerrillas particularly benefit from quickly setting up as many traps as possible in the early stages of the game, when the board is still relatively empty. As the board fills up, setting more traps becomes more difficult, so the faction's success depends on properly preparing the battlefield and exploiting the effects of hidden threats.
