What is Frogs on the Hunt

Welcome to the pond! The amphibians from Frogs on the Hunt do more than just jump—they glide, hunt, and gather food to nourish their hungry tadpoles. Combining the classic, brain-teasing mechanics of Mancala with a fresh, vibrant, and highly portable modular board, this family-friendly strategy game will have you carefully calculating every leap.

Each turn is a clever spatial puzzle divided into three quick phases. First, you choose a lily pad and select a frog to jump. The number of frogs on your chosen pad dictates how many actions you get, while the color of your chosen frog determines how far it leaps: red frogs hop one space, green bound two, and rare golden frogs glide up to three spaces! Once you land, you spend your actions to catch tasty insects (like flies, dragonflies, and butterflies), draft new tadpole cards from the market, or feed the tadpoles currently in your hand.

The true strategic depth reveals itself in the "Scare" phase. After your main frog jumps, you must distribute the remaining frogs from your starting lily pad to adjacent spaces. This Mancala-inspired twist forces you to plan ahead—you can set up brilliant future combos for yourself, but you must be careful not to accidentally leave the perfect jumping opportunity for your opponents! At the end of each round, the pond replenishes with fresh insects drawn from a tactile cloth bag, constantly shifting the puzzle and keeping the competition fierce.

The game races to an exciting climax once the last insect is drawn from the bag or the final wild bee lands on a flower. Players then tally up their victory points, earned from their caught insects and the high-value tadpoles they successfully fed.
