The galaxy has been a peaceful place for many years. After the ruthless Terran–Hegemony War (30.027–33.364), much effort has been employed by all major spacefaring species to prevent the terrifying events from repeating themselves. The Galactic Council was formed to enforce precious peace, and it has taken many courageous efforts to prevent the escalation of malicious acts. Nevertheless, tension and discord are growing among the seven major species and in the Council itself. Old alliances are shattering, and hasty diplomatic treaties are made in secrecy. A confrontation of the superpowers seems inevitable – only the outcome of the galactic conflict remains to be seen. Which faction will emerge victorious and lead the galaxy under its rule?

A game of Eclipse places you in control of a vast interstellar civilization, competing for success with its rivals. You will explore new star systems, research technologies, and build spaceships with which to wage war. There are many potential paths to victory, so you need to plan your strategy according to the strengths and weaknesses of your species, while paying attention to the other civilizations' endeavors.
The shadows of the great civilizations are about to eclipse the galaxy. Lead your people to victory!

Es un juego de civilizaciones y desarrollo espacial. Los jugadores están a cargo de una raza. Se juegan en 9 rondas. En cada ronda hay cuatro fases. Las fases de acciones permiten explorar nuevos sistemas, mover influencia de unos a otros, investigar en nuevas tecnologías, mejorar las naves, construir o mover. Después hay una fase de mantenimiento, y otra de limpieza. La mayor parte de interacción la realizas con los vecinos. Cada acción que realices te supondrá mayores costes en la fase de mantenimiento. Cuando colonizas un planeta, vas obteniendo recursos que te permitirán hacer otras cosas.
Desde luego no es mal juego. Sin embargo es un caso de Hype brutal. Es una mezcla entre eurogame y ameritrash pero a mi parecer no esta todo lo pulida que debería. La única ventaja es que se juega realmente rápido, sobre todo los primeros turnos. Sin embargo, a mi parecer, el juego no trasmite la sensación épica que un juego de conquista espacial debería, en ese sentido es muy eurogame. Por otro lado tiene mecánicas extrañas como el hecho de que las losetas se coloquen a voluntad, de forma que tú diseñas el espacio que tienes alrededor (WTF!) o que puedas construir naves donde te de la gana (

excelente euro con temática espacial, hay que repetirlo rápido, genial.
Gestión de recursos y guerra, que mas pedir?
Si conocéis y os gustan los juegos tipo 4X, éste está muy logrado, mezcla de mecánicas euro y amerithrash, que pueden gustar o no. Creo que es un gran juego, pero un 10 al marqueting que se lo ha currado de tal forma que parezca que todavía es mejor de lo que es. No justifica el juego su hype, está muy sobrevalorado, pero no esta mal. Es un eurogame disfrazado de elementos de juegos tipo 4x americano, pero el juego tiene mucha burocracia, mucha parafernalia de economía, para al final tener varios elementos de azar muy determinante que chocan con el otro estilo euro. El juego es demasiado largo
