What is Creatoons: Caricatures of Great Creators
Creatoons: Caricatures of Great Creators is a card game for 2 to 4 players, played over three rounds, in which players compete to become the most inspired and brilliant creator. Each player represents a single artistic discipline —Writers, Composers, Painters, or Filmmakers— and scores points primarily through the characters of their own discipline. Character cards feature three values (Genius, Originality, and Fecundity), with Genius being the core value used for scoring, while the others come into play through specific card effects.
Players always hold five cards in hand. On their turn, they draw one card from a shared deck and discard one, gradually shaping their hand while denying opportunities to their opponents. The goal is to legally discard all cards in hand by forming specific combinations tied to the player’s discipline, special support cards, or rare universal combinations. When a player manages to discard their hand, the round immediately ends and all players score based on their current cards.
In addition to character cards, the deck includes support cards that enhance scoring, powerful one-time effects, disruptive cards that allow direct interaction between players, and high-risk cards that can dramatically alter the outcome of a round. After three rounds, the player with the highest total score is declared the winner.
Creatoons is directly related to the book series Caricatures of Great Creators by Pablo Morales de los Ríos, including volumes such as Caricatures of Great Creators: Classical Musicians. The card game expands the illustrated universe of these books into a playable format, transforming the caricatures of composers, writers, painters, and filmmakers into interactive characters with distinct creative traits.
