What is Las Ligas de la Ñ: Los Juegos de la X

During his life, Alfonso X has sponsored and translated works of different disciplines in his court, such as law and politics (Fuero Real de Castilla, Espéculo, Setenario and Siete Partidas), history (Estoria de España and General estoria), art and music (Cantigas de Santa María and Cantigas de escarnio y maldezir), games (Libro de los juegos, that includes chess & variants, alquerque, dice and tables games, nine men’s morris or the mil game…), science and magic (such as Tablas alfonsíes and Libro complido en los judizios de las estrellas, both about astronomy and astrology; Lapidario, about natural properties of the stones; and Picatrix, about hellenistic magic), and sapiential literature (Sendebar or Libro de los engaños, Calila e Dimna, Liber Scale Machometi and Bocados de oro).

Las Ligas de la Ñ: Los Juegos de la X (The Ñ Leagues: The X Games) is a board game played by 2 to 8 players that contains 15 playable characters of the Middle Ages and Renaissance (Alfonso X, Wallada, Ramon Llull, Christine de Pizan, Maimónides, Urganda the Unknown…).

In this new Ñ game (seventh in the series), the players play as one of the characters to obtain X number of medals (5 for a short game, 7 for a semi-fast one and 10 for a long game). During the game, the players move on the board to reach special squares (sacred relics and category squares) to obtain medals in different ways, either on minigames played after each round or by using the characters' or relics' special powers. In every round, the players take turns to do their actions (one of the following three: 1. Moving, 2. Using a character’s power or 3. Using a relics’ power).
