Arcs is a sharp, tactical space opera game set in a dark yet silly universe. Players represent officials from a distant, decaying and neglectful Empire who are now free to vie for dominance whether through battle, gathering scarce resources or diplomatic intrigue. Ready yourself for dramatic twists and turns as you launch into this galactic struggle.
A deck of cards in 4 suits with ranks from 1-7 (2-6 for fewer than 4 players) defines the action selection system. These cards are played in a trick-taking adjacent system to select actions, take the initiative and declare Ambitions. The 3 declared Ambitions are what will score in that deal. Timing is everything. Bad hands must be mitigated by careful card play and benefitting from other players' card play.
Battles are resolved quickly with the attacker choosing their level of risk. The defenders must be prepared with adequate defensive ships and cards in their tableau.
Each game contains a hundred wooden ships and agents, 18 custom engraved dice, a beautiful six-panel board, and tons of cards with over 60 pieces of unique art. The base game may be played without the optional Leaders and Lore cards (for an easier teach) or with them for a richer, fuller and asymmetric game. It is also the core of the campaign game (requiring the Blighted Reach Expansion), which provides an epic, more thematic experience.

Juego de 2 a 4 jugadores, que se desarrolla en 5 capitulos, cada uno de los cuales tiene rondas en los que el jugador líder juega una cata y realizando acciones asociadas y el resto de jugadores van jugando cartas relativas a la del lider. En función de cómo se jueguen las cartas, se ejecutaran diverso numero de acciones que puede ser construir, reparar, influenciar (para ganar cartas), tributar, mover y atacar. La partida es una carrera hasta obtener un número de puntos y los puntos sólo se consiguen declarando ambiciones. Tiene mecánicas muy chulas y estan bien integradas. Eso sí, el juego,
A wonderfully mean game of tatical positioning and risk management. You're dealt a hand of cards each round and you struggle how to do the best of the actions them allow you to do. The puzzle it gives each round of the game is addictive. It remainds me a little to the decision space of the hand management in Mage Knight or Brass, or the dice management in Grand Hotel Austria and Marco Polo but applied to a mean tactical space battle game. Stay away from it if you don't like games that challenge you from restrictive action selection. You will feel trapped or the game will trap you.
The more you play the more it shines. Love the base game. Looking forward to playing the Blighted Reach expansion.

It is not the game, it is me! Probably one of the most unforgiving games I have played, I am not agreeing with the complexityof the rules for the game, know how game proceeds and how it is played technically, does not really help much, to enjoy the game, I guess it is until, you know all the cards until you will start enjoying,playing and if you play with players, that need to understand everything at first play, good luck! I am not happy about some parts of topic, taking dead bodies as trophies, or have cards to massacre hostages, I dont know, if that makes for better game play at any game, s
Un juegazo, divertido y táctico como pocos. Si no te gustan los giros de guión puede ser frustrante, pero cuando se admite que no hay mano mala ni buena y que todos estamos en la mierda, el juego vuela y se vuelve super divertido y diferente a cualquier otro juego que, al menos, yo haya jugado.
Impresionante. Un juegazo como la copa de un pino, original, duración ajustada, divertido,... el único pero, y por eso no le puedo dar el diez es que no tiene modo solitario.
