What is Sons of the Desert
Sons of the Desert: Actions of the French Foreign Legion in North Africa, 1890-1925. Complete rules of miniature figures including 11 scenarios.
Extract from the introduction:
Sons of the Desert uses simple mechanics to permit a large game using many figures without bogging down in numerous charts and tables. The basic concept is that of the "Quality Die" for each figure. The action plays as man-to-man, but the system accommodates a 1:5 scaling while still retaining the proper "feel" of the era.
Sons of the Desert may be used in two separate formats. The first is the Battle Game, where one figure equals five real men, each turn equals one minute, and one inch equals ten yards. The second is the Skirmish Game in which each figure is an individual, each turn is thirty seconds, and one inch equals five yards.
