What is Sengoku: Clash of the Daimyō
In Sengoku: Clash of the Daimyō, players lead rival warlords struggling to unify Japan during the Sengoku period. On a shared grid-based map inspired by Sudoku, you deploy troops, build castles and capitals, forge uneasy alliances – and deliberately create “errors” on the board only to turn them into brutal tactical advantages.
Each player controls a historical Daimyō with a unique deck, starting power and personal mission. During the game you play cards to claim rows, columns and regions on the map, place tokens, and influence key locations such as castles, capitals and markets. Formal alliances let you cooperate with other players… at least for as long as it suits your plans.
The core twist of Sengoku is its “error and correction” system: sometimes you intentionally break the rules of the Sudoku-like grid to gain a short-term benefit, leaving behind fragile “errors” that can later be punished, corrected or even weaponised by clever opponents. Timing when to create, protect or exploit these errors is at the heart of the game.
