FLAC (Fast Large Air Combats) is a free set of rules designed for a fast paced, action packed, hex-based, WW2 air combat game using any scale of miniatures (1:200, 1:144 or 1:100 scale work best) where a single player can control a multiple number of aircraft. The only limitation is the size of the game mat and the number of aircraft models you have. For beginners, we recommend no more than 2-3 aircraft per player, and no more than six to eight players per game.
By design, FLAC is fairly abstract, but that is only because it is designed to capture the flavor of air combat rather than overwhelm the players with lots of detailed characteristics of air combat. For example, there are only six altitude levels in FLAC, which is a fraction of what it should be, but trying to keep track of a vast array of altitudes can be tedious. Also, it would not make for fast, fun game play because aircraft at very different altitudes do not interact well. Overall, FLAC is designed to capture the flavor of air combat in a simple, fast, and enjoyable way.
