What is Caesar's Gallic War II
A major updating of the original Worthington Games 2009 classic by Daniel Berger. In the update you will now get larger blocks, an updated map with new regions/forts, cards and rules which now include solitaire rules.
Caesar's Gallic War II is a two-player Strategic level block board-wargame that covers Julius Caesar's conquest of Gaul from 58 to 51 BC. One person plays the side of the Romans, while the other plays the side of the Germans, with both players vying for control of the various Gallic tribes.
The game uses blocks and area movement. Players use cards to collect allies, move units and attack or play events. Certain leaders are represented in the game, including Julius Caesar, Vercingetorix and Ariovistus.
As the Germans you will start with fewer and weaker units, but you you'll have an easier time recruiting other tribes to your side. Eventually Vercingetorix will appear to help you. Will you confront the Romans directly? Or will you play defensively, and rely on raiding tactics and political maneuvering?
