Though the years of Austrian occupation and repression have ended and Venice is back in French hands, fear still hangs heavy over the City of Masks. Rumours abound, telling of strange figures leaping across rooftops, of monsters out in the lagoon, of bodies bearing mysterious wounds pulled from the canals. The people whisper of the brutal Venetian Civic Guard, of the raids on bookshops and libraries, of the arrests of scientists and physicians, and wonder what they could possibly be seeking with such fervour… and whose agenda they serve.

This is the Venice into which you are sent, charged with navigating the occult underworld of the city to acquire grimoires and relics amassed by Venetian collectors over the centuries. Two campaigns, one solo and one competitive, will test your resolve – for despite the new recruits at your disposal and the alchemical arsenal that can be fielded, you must face the muskets of rival factions, the menace of terrifying creatures, and the machinations of a hidden power…
