What is Soldat
Soldat is a set of rules for simulating squad level infantry combat during the early and mid Twentieth Century. The rules concentrate on the World Wars, but can also be used for Korea, Indochina and the early Arab-Israeli wars.
Unlike the great majority of wargame rules for this period, Soldat concentrates on the role of the infantryman. Combat in both World Wars rapidly became a series of vicious, small unit actions, a classic confrontation at close quarters with no holds barred. As in most wars, the dirty business of winning battles fell to the infantryman. Despite the vast array of sophisticated and deadly weapons available to all sides, success or failure ultimately depended upon the ability of the foot soldier to take or hold ground.
