About the game

What is Release the Eagle

On the 18th of June 1815, Napoleon was defeated at Waterloo. The allies decided to exile him to the remote volcanic island of Saint Helena in the South Atlantic.

A few plots were made to save the former Emperor from his exile between 1816 and 1820, but none of them succeeded. But what if one of them had succeeded? Here is YOUR chance to rewrite history by rescuing the Emperor from his exile!

Needless to say: it won't be an easy task.

"Release the Eagle" is a hand management/deck building card game. In their turn, the players will be able to draw, play or reveal certain cards on one of the 7 locations of the island. They must beware, because some cards are disadvantageous and are best kept hidden. The players will attempt to collect 4 types of cards which serve as minimal requirements in order to attempt a rescue: a financier with money, means of transportation, an internal contact and an event to profit from. In order to be able to play them, the players must influence the Hudson Lowe mood track. From the moment that governor Lowe lets his guard down (allowing you to play at least 4 cards), the Royal Navy and British patrols are not present on one of the 6 locations, then it is your moment to ensure the prisoner's escape...
