Ticket to Ride: Pioneers & Saboteurs is an unofficial thematic expansion for Ticket to Ride that adds asymmetrical roles, a reputation system, and a new turn structure to increase interaction and strategic variety.
At the beginning of the game, each player receives a unique character card that gives them a secret background and specific scoring objectives. Some characters benefit from helping others (Pioneers), while others thrive on sabotage and misdirection (Saboteurs).
Each turn, instead of playing immediately, players draw a Turn Card. This card contains a one-time event and two optional reputation actions: one helpful (Pioneer) and one disruptive (Saboteur). Choosing an action grants a reputation point in that direction and ends your turn — skipping it lets you play normally. Reputation bonuses accumulate over time and significantly change your capabilities:
Pioneers may draw more cards, build extra routes, or gain bonus points.
