Midway 1022: A solo WW2 Carrier Battle

June 4, 1942. Six months after Pearl Harbor, American and Japanese aircraft carriers converge near the isolated island of Midway. Japan commits four fleet carriers to the operation; the United States meets them with Enterprise, Hornet, Yorktown, and Midway’s land-based aircraft. At approximately 10:22 a.m, American dive bombers began attacks that would change the course of the Battle of Midway. Within minutes, three Japanese carriers suffered devastating damage.

Japan selects first from a shared pool, forcing you to weigh the actions you need against those you leave available. Launch bombers, assign fighter protection, and use scouting and coordination to improve your attacks. Aircraft move twice each turn, while a persistent Standing Order helps prepare your next move. As damage consumes carrier capacity and fires threaten your flight decks, you must balance offensive opportunities against the survival of your force.
